IT professionals turning to Cyber Crime

I recently read an article about how Cyber Crime profits are running into trillions of dollars, and that while the economic downturn has reduced the income of drug traffickers, cyber criminals are on the up.

According to a report by security firm Finjan, the current economic climate is taking its toll on individual finances and there is now a new internal threat, as a number of unemployed IT professionals seem to be turning to the dark side as a new and easy income.

We are led to believe this is only the beginning of a wider trend that will grow in 2009 and 2010. This issues a stern warning to all, and reiterates the importance of IT security. So, even if budgets are feeling the pinch, this is clearly an area not to be overlooked otherwise it could be a costly mistake for your business.
