Vector Resourcing’s permanent division has now been up and running for its first full year. Although I joined the team in its last quarter, there are signs that the market is picking up by the number of Job requirements and permanent placements being filled.

The Permanent Division has experienced a healthy end to 2009 and the signs are promising for 2010. Many of our clients appear to be replenishing their IT staffing levels on a permanent basis most notably in the retail sector.

“The future looks great for contract IT consultants in 2010,” says Martin Pite, Team Manager at Vector Resourcing. “Following Alistair Darling’s announcement, the Government seem to be further backing technology as a route to economic recovery which, when coupled with anticipated tax rises in today’s pre-Budget report, means that more and more skilled workers will look to contracting as a way to increase their net income."

It has been a challenging year for all and with the prospect of uncertainty in most sectors for 2010 I have noticed a considerable shift in the way clients, and contractors, are behaving towards contract recruiters.
