IT Professionals Hit by Recession
Posted by Nikki Marshall on Thursday 11 March 2010It was recently reported in Computer Weekly, that Jobcentres across the UK are failing recession-hit IT workers. Although jobcentres recognise that IT Professionals fall into the category of specialist jobseekers, after three months they still insist they broaden their job searches away from IT, leaving many to apply for inappropriate roles which do not utilise their skills.
This is where we can really help, whether you are looking for a permanent position or considering contracting, we have been providing IT resourcing solutions for over 13 years, so we really know what we are doing. If you have found yourself redundant or taking a lower rate of pay following the recession, perhaps you haven’t considered all your options.
If you choose contracting, there are many benefits and setting up your own limited company is easier than you might think, or you may choose to work through an Umbrella Company. We have a full section on our website dedicated to providing you with all the information you need including the advantages of contracting, how to set yourself up and how we can help you with the process. For more information, please visit our contractors section.
If you are already a contractor and have found that you are taking contracts on at a lower rate, again our experience and current market knowledge here at Vector ensures we can negotiate the best rate possible for you.
If you would prefer a permanent role, our Permanent Division has an exceptional reputation for placing IT Professionals into permanent roles at all levels. For further information, please visit our permanent page.
We are now starting to see confidence growing in both contract and permanent markets, with employers hiring more now than at any other time in the last year. New positions are being created and many projects are being taken off hold. The recent Computer Weekly quarterly IT jobs market survey found that the number of IT vacancies increased 1.8% in the final quarter of last year, and this is supported by the numerous positive reports across the media. The IT industry is not only recovering faster than most sectors, but leading the way out of the recession.
