Max Buck – Travel and Leisure Technology Recruitment Consultant

Having originally considered a different career option, Max decided that recruitment was the right choice when he met up with the team at Vector, and hasn’t looked back since. Max initially joined the resourcing team, sourcing candidates for contract vacancies, and then spent several months shadowing a senior consultant before joining the Travel and Leisure team.

“I really enjoy working with such an interesting variety of clients. It gives me the opportunity to cross-fertilise ideas between companies, helping each of them to get the very best candidate that they can.

We have a really strong database of specialist contractors, such as those with booking systems experience as well as a background in travel, so we can find the right people who really understand the challenges our clients are facing.

The industry sectors I work in are constantly evolving. Our clients are really looking to simplify the engagement with their customers, and improve their brand consistency, as well as dealing with challenges like looking at how to make the connection from physical to digital experiences in-store. It’s a really exciting time, and its great to be able to guide the recruitment process to support all these opportunities.”

Sam Sylvester – Retail Systems and IT Recruitment Consultant

Sam joined Vector two and a half years ago, and with his background in retail, he was quickly promoted to become a consultant working with the Retail team. It is something he is genuinely interested in, and his consultative approach has helped him develop a strong relationship with his clients. Many of Sam’s very first clients continue with work with him today.

Sam’s passion for brands and the way they work is clear. “Consumer shopping habits are changing, and our clients know that they need to adapt quickly and effectively to make everything as easy as possible for their customers. Brand identity is key, and being able to present that consistently across multiple devices is so important. Customer loyalty is harder to retain than ever, and whether our clients are looking at international expansion, consolidation or innovation, we work with them to find the skills that they need.”

One of Sam’s most recent successes was to find a candidate to fill a very niche role for a fully automated warehouse project that his client had been struggling with for several months. Vector were able to put forward someone with just the right skills for the project.
