IT Recruitment falling more slowly than most sectors

Thursday 8 January 2009

According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG report on Jobs Survey, released today, IT Recruitment is falling more slowly than most other sectors.

Both Permanent and Contract vacancies have dropped in their index rating in comparison to December last year.  Decline in demand has fallen at record levels across all sectors, but the IT jobs market has declined less than any other sector covered by the research with the exception of Healthcare (Nursing, Medical and Care).

The Survey has identified that .Net, PHP, C# and web development all remain as key skills in demand.

Donna Medway, Director, Vector Resourcing, commented; “Despite the onset of recession, there are still jobs available, especially for IT Professionals who offer specialist skills and experience.  IT is at the heart of any business and it is vital to their survival, even more so in an economic downturn.”

“IT is not the cause of the credit crunch, and if anything offers companies a potential way out by supporting change and development, driving business efficiency and increasing productivity.”
