Infrastructure Engineer

The search

Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and improve a reliable, secure IT environment within an SME.
You will ensure core systems and user services run effectively across on-premise and Microsoft 365.
This role is focused on hands-on delivery, stability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain core infrastructure, ensuring performance, uptime, and security
• Manage Windows domain services (DNS, DHCP, VPN, networking)
• Deliver hands-on user and endpoint support, including walk-up issues
• Administer Microsoft 365 services including Entra, Defender, Intune, and Exchange Online
• Contribute to infrastructure projects with minimal disruption to live services
• Apply and improve security controls, monitoring threats and responding where needed

Essential skills

• Experience in IT infrastructure within an SME environment
• Comfortable in a user-facing role with competing priorities
• Good understanding of IT security principles and risks
• Experience across both on-premise and cloud environments
